Fatick : un forum régional pour renforcer la lutte contre les violences basées sur le genre et les violences numériques
In partnership with ENABEL, the regional family directorate organized a forum on gender-based violence (GBV) and digital violence for local stakeholders in the Fatick region. The meeting aimed to strengthen participants' capacities regarding GBV, to highlight the consequences of digital violence, and to promote greater understanding of the law criminalizing rape.
According to Ndeye Khadi Diouf, regional director of Family Affairs in Fatick, "gender-based violence against women and girls can no longer be considered mere isolated incidents. It constitutes a serious attack on human integrity and a violation of fundamental rights."
She noted that violence takes many forms, including economic, social, and psychological violence. Therefore, she stressed the importance of strengthening all stakeholders so they can fully play their role in supporting communities.
"We must not minimize these acts of violence, as their consequences can be devastating on the lives of the victims," she stressed, while also emphasizing the need for collective awareness and increased commitment from local actors.
Ms. Diouf also appealed to victims, encouraging them to systematically report the violence they suffer. In this regard, she mentioned the establishment of a support center designed to assist and guide survivors through the process.
Chaired by the deputy governor of Fatick, this forum saw the participation of several key players, including civil society, women's groups and traditional leaders, all committed to the fight against gender-based violence in the Fatick region.
