A theft case has led to the referral of a minor to the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court. KM, a 17-year-old 8th grade student, was referred yesterday, Thursday, by the Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade of the Industrial Free Zone for theft from her employer.
Taking advantage of her school holidays, the young girl worked as a cleaner in Mbao, for a woman who held the position of treasurer of a housing cooperative. The latter used to gather the cooperative's money at her home until the end of the month before depositing it in the bank.
It was through social media that KM met a charlatan based in Ivory Coast. He dangled a tempting promise in front of her: to multiply the sums of money she sent him. Gullible, the young woman first sent him 10,000 CFA francs of her own money.
After a supposed spell casting session, the miracle worker changed his strategy. He made his victim believe that she had a serious illness that prevented her from receiving the promised money.
To "cure" himself and receive the expected fortune, KM had to send him more money.
It was then that the student began stealing from his boss's cash register, gradually stealing large sums of money.
During a transfer of funds, the treasurer noticed a shortage in her cash register. Suspecting her housekeeper, she set out to find her. The surprise was complete when she found the minor at a money transfer point with 3 million CFA francs.
The girl was preparing to carry out a new transaction for the benefit of the Ivorian charlatan, according to Seneweb sources close to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
6.9 million CFA francs gone
Following the complaint filed with the commander of the Territorial Brigade of the Industrial Free Zone, KM was arrested by the gendarmes.
Questioned by investigators, she confessed and recounted her misadventure.
According to the investigation, the student had already sent a colossal sum of 6.9 million CFA francs to the fetish priest established in Ivory Coast.
