Fidak: La biodiversité sédhiouoise sur les étals
At the Dakar International Fair (FIDAK), the Sédhiou region's stand stands out as one of the major attractions, powerfully illustrating the economic potential of the Pakao region. This year, the region's participation is marked by an unprecedented professionalization drive, supported by the strategic guidance of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (CCIA) and the Chamber of Trades of Sédhiou.
In total, 22 economic operators, including craftsmen and seasoned processors, made the trip.
This institutional support has enabled these entrepreneurs to take a qualitative step forward, both in terms of packaging and compliance with health standards, making Sédhiou's products ready for the national and international market.
The exhibition offers a range of sectors such as improved fishery products, guaranteeing optimal preservation.
The pastoral and leather sector, beyond dairy processing, offers artisans in Sédhiou the opportunity to shine through their leatherwork, offering shoes and accessories based on ancestral know-how.
Forest resources, including forest honey, Madd syrup, and forest seed oils, attest to the richness of the local flora. Agriculture and horticulture are also key, with Sédhiou mangoes processed into dried slices and juice. Fonio, valley rice, and roasted cashew nuts complete this picture of food sovereignty.
The support provided by the chambers of commerce goes beyond simply transporting goods. It represents a genuine networking strategy. For these 22 businesses, FIDAK is a unique platform for forging business partnerships and demonstrating that Sédhiou is no longer just a raw materials production area, but a true hub for agro-industrial processing.
