Fin de l’hivernage ? Les explications de l’Anacim
Is winter over in Senegal? The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) has provided explanations for each area of the country.
In a bulletin published this Friday, it reported that this year (2025), a generally late to normal end to the rainy season is expected in a large part of the country, more precisely during the month of October, with marked contrasts depending on the different localities of the country.
In the north of the country (Saint-Louis, Dagana and Podor), a normal to late end to the rainy season is expected, starting in the first ten days of October.
In the center of the country, more precisely in Louga, Linguère, Dakar, Thiès, Kaolack, Fatick, Kaffrine, Matam and the northern half of Tambacounda, a normal end to the rainy season is expected. This could occur during the second decade of October, in line with the usual climate of these localities. However, some light and localized rains could still occur after this period in the area.
On the other hand, in the South of the country (Ziguinchor, Sédhiou, Kolda, South Tambacounda and Kédougou), the rains will continue until the 3rd decade of October, reflecting the persistence of humid conditions in these localities, with a tendency from normal to late end of season in these localities, concludes Anacim in its bulletin.
