Front social : Mody Guiro menace de rompre le pacte de stabilité le 12 mars
The Secretary General of the National Confederation of Senegalese Workers (CNTS), Mody Guiro, announced that union activity could resume if the government does not honor its commitments. Speaking on the program "En Vérité" on Radio Senegal, Guiro reiterated that the social stability pact, signed nearly a year ago, aimed to ease social tensions. He specified that the unions have, to date, respected their commitment to prioritizing stability.
However, certain situations, particularly layoffs, risk reigniting tensions. According to him, the unions have been too patient and are now expecting concrete answers from the government. "We have been very patient and we have kept our word. But this is too much," he declared.
The Secretary General of the CNTS also announced that the labor unions will hold a press conference on March 12, 2026, to unveil their action plan. This plan could include a general strike. "We are not ruling out a general strike," he warned, calling on the authorities to honor their commitments to prevent an escalation of social tensions.
In conclusion, he emphasized dialogue, which he believes is the foundation of this stability pact. "Social stability rests on dialogue, not threats," he declared.
