Gendarmerie nationale : Le général Martin Faye exalte la fraternité et la résilience de l'institution
The ceremony to present New Year's greetings to the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice took place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in the amphitheater of the High Command headquarters located in the Samba Dièry Diallo district, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.


Chaired by Major General Martin Faye, this solemn event was held in the presence of the Inspector General of the Armed Forces, the Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic, the Deputy High Commander and several civil and military authorities.


An opportunity for the high commander of the national gendarmerie to present his New Year's greetings to all active personnel, retirees as well as the civilian staff of the gendarmerie.


During this moment of sympathy, he also offered his condolences to the families of the illustrious deceased and expressed his affection for the military personnel who left active service in 2025.


General Faye emphasized that the year 2025 had demonstrated the resilience and adaptability of the institution, which is constantly evolving: “We have been able to stand together in fraternity and generosity. Faced with the persistence of the unexpected and blind violence that offends the human conscience, my primary duty is to protect our Institution, to consolidate its position as a loyal and dedicated republican force, but above all to cultivate fraternity and mutual trust within our ranks.”


The speech of the second-in-command
Brigadier General Papa Diouf, Deputy Commander of the National Gendarmerie and Deputy Director of Military Justice, in his address, praised the efforts made, reflecting on the achievements since he assumed his post. He conveyed the staff's best wishes to the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, assuring him of their unwavering obedience and determination to support him in his duties and uphold the high standards of this institution.


He noted that the results for 2025 were not a matter of chance, but rather the product of the vision of the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie, his rigorous approach, and his proactive participatory leadership. He sees the Gendarmerie as an elite force that acts, adapts, and transforms itself without ever betraying its core principles.


Large-scale projects for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games
General Diouf also emphasized the support and participation of the gendarmerie for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games (YOG) 2026 with the construction of two headquarters, seven barracks for the surveillance and intervention squadrons, three barracks for the territorial armored squadrons, ten territorial brigades and one barracks for the mounted cavalry group in Diamniadio.


The end of the ceremony was marked by the presentation of gifts, decoration badges in national orders and the gendarmerie's medal of honor, as well as a cocktail reception.
