Golf: le bourreau des locataires coincé dans sa propre combine
The Golf district police station has put an end to the activities of an alleged fraudster who specialized in real estate fraud. The man, accused of rental fraud, was arrested after several complaints were filed against him for a total loss of 660,000 CFA francs.
According to investigators, his modus operandi was as simple as it was effective: he offered to rent a room in his own home, demanded a monthly rent of 60,000 CFA francs and a two- to three-month deposit, and then disappeared once the money was collected. The victims, duped and left homeless, had no way of contacting him.
Four people have already filed complaints against him, describing the same method of deception. He is currently in police custody while an investigation is underway to determine the true extent of his actions.
The "tenant executioner," as some residents have ironically dubbed him, now risks swapping his fake rentals for a very real stay behind bars.
