Goudiry : 1,5 tonne de denrées périmées d'une valeur de 1,259 million de FCFA incinérée
An incineration operation took place on the outskirts of the town of Goudiry. A total of 1.5 tons of unfit-for-consumption products, with an estimated market value of 1,259,000 CFA francs, were destroyed. Supervised by the prefect of the department, this public health initiative aims to protect the health of the population and to clean up local supply chains.
This destruction follows a series of rigorous seizures carried out by officers of the hygiene department's sub-brigade in shops, markets, and weekly markets in the area. According to Warrant Officer Bougar Faye, commander of the Goudiry hygiene sub-brigade, the seized goods included a wide variety of everyday consumer products, notably bouillon cubes, milk, and canned tomatoes. The commander specified that these items were either expired or had obvious manufacturing defects that made them highly dangerous to public health.
This operation will be part of an ongoing effort to combat food insecurity and the proliferation of prohibited goods, a particularly crucial issue during this period of high consumption as the Tabaski festival approaches. Adjutant Bougar Faye took this opportunity to call for increased citizen vigilance, urging people to carefully check the expiration dates of their purchases and to systematically report unscrupulous vendors to the appropriate authorities.
