A return to school amidst mourning in Badidioto, a village located in the commune of Baghere (department of Goudomp). Indeed, a student in the CE2 class, named Demba Lepeur, died yesterday following an electrocution while plugging in his mobile phone.
The school's teachers visited the funeral home this morning to offer their condolences to the bereaved family. The school principal spoke of the deceased student's human qualities, emphasizing that he was composed, calm, disciplined, and hardworking.
His father took advantage of the solemnity of the moment to regret the fact that his son had asked him to let him go on vacation to Gambia, where his mother and two of his brothers live. Indeed, since his mother divorced her husband, she left to join her parents in Gambia, accompanied by two children, the brothers of Demba Lepeur. The latter, whose funeral is scheduled for this afternoon at 5 p.m., lived with his father and two other brothers. At the end of the school year, he wanted, at his mother's request, to go to Gambia to see his family. Fate decided otherwise.
