Grand Dakar : Un escroc au visa Schengen interpellé, deux victimes dépouillées de 5 millions FCFA

On January 29, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM, officers from the Grand Dakar District Police Station's Criminal Investigation Unit arrested an individual suspected of visa fraud. The suspect, MD, a 36-year-old merchant residing in Grand Dakar, is the subject of two separate complaints.

First complaint: 2 million FCFA embezzled

The suspect's arrest followed an initial complaint filed at the service's headquarters on January 23, 2026, alleging fraud. The victim, CML, stated that the accused had allegedly taken 2,000,000 CFA francs from him out of the 5,000,000 CFA francs agreed upon for obtaining a Schengen visa.

However, when the deadline arrived, the complainant did not receive the promised document. He observed that Mr. MD had engaged in delaying tactics, which prompted him to file a complaint against him.

Summoned and questioned under formal investigation, the suspect admitted the facts without ambiguity and declared himself willing to reimburse the funds, according to Seneweb sources.

Second complaint: 3 million FCFA for a visa that was never obtained

On the same day, around 5 p.m., a second victim came forward at the police station. AD filed a complaint against the same individual for a similar case.

According to the complainant, the accused promised to find a Schengen visa for her younger brother, who dreamed of going to Italy. To do so, she allegedly gave him 3,000,000 CFA francs.

However, after a year and six months of waiting and no longer able to trust the suspect's statements, she decided to take the matter to court.

A full confession, but no restitution

When questioned again based on this new complaint, MD admitted to the acts. A search of his room in Grand Dakar proved fruitless.

The suspect was taken into custody at the police station for visa fraud. The public prosecutor was notified and an investigation was opened.

Tant mieux pour ces rêveurs d'Europe. Avec ces sommes, ils pouvaient bel et bien mener des activités économiques au Sénégal.
