In October 2024, PA Valiton, on vacation in Senegal, met Kh. Mbengue in a bar in Saly Portudal. They clicked, Cupid struck. The Frenchman and the Senegalese woman began a romantic relationship. The couple moved in together.
The idyllic image persists even after the tourist returns to his home country. At least in his mind.
"In reality, his girlfriend is a lesbian who is already in a relationship with F. Niass and the two planned to extort money from the Frenchman by playing the ghost apartment card," reports L'Observateur, which mentions this incredible story in its Thursday edition.
Kh. Mbengue contacted her lover and offered him a "golden opportunity": an apartment for 8 million CFA francs, according to the daily newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias. She designated F. Niass as the owner of the property. The Frenchman was completely taken in; he sent a deposit of 3.5 million CFA francs, the newspaper reports.
The two con artists then decided to move on to the second stage of their plan. This time, F. Niass contacted Valiton, informing him of his girlfriend's death. "This news plunged [the Frenchman] into despair for several months."
Last October, PA Valiton returned to Senegal. As was his custom during his holidays in the land of Teranga, he went to a bar in Saly Portudal. To his surprise, he saw his girlfriend, who had been declared dead, in the arms of another man. He slipped away unnoticed by her and, the very next day, filed a complaint at the Saly police station.
The two women were arrested. L'Observateur reports that they adopted opposing defenses when questioned by investigators: Kh. Mbengue admitted to the acts but cited poverty and despair as justification, while F. Niass denied everything. "The two women have been languishing in the Mbour prison since last Thursday for fraud," the newspaper reports.
