Guédiawaye : 1 million F CFA volé pour la dot, mariage annulé et sextapes
SF Thiam, 22, a driver, was sentenced to six months in prison by the Pikine/Guédiawaye court for statutory rape. The plaintiff, AC Tall, his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend, who was a minor at the time of the crime, accused him of refusing to return 1 million CFA francs that she allegedly entrusted to him after stealing it from her father. In addition, the accused allegedly threatened to publish intimate videos that she allegedly sent him during their romance.
The accused's version is different. According to the account of L'Observateur, which attended the hearing, SF Thiam claimed in court that AC Tall had offered her the million francs as their wedding dowry. It was after their breakup that she allegedly demanded the money from him, the driver reported. "My client simply refused the marriage proposal and never extorted a single franc," insisted the defense lawyer, who pleaded for acquittal.
Regarding the sex tapes, the defendant also dismissed accusations of fraudulent collection and threats of distribution. "She sent them to me herself," he claimed in court.
Without mentioning the alleged sextortion, according to L'Observateur, AC Tall's mother accused the accused: "Manipulated, my daughter stole and ran away to satisfy this boy who constantly harassed her and demanded money from her."
The newspaper reports that the public prosecutor pleaded for the young man's acquittal on the offenses of collecting personal data, extortion, and disseminating immoral images, and for his sentence to one year in prison for statutory rape. The judge followed the prosecution's instructions, but gave the defendant a six-month prison sentence.
