A 49-year-old man, employed at the Guédiawaye Pediatric Hospital, died last Monday after collapsing on public transportation. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

On April 27, 2026, at approximately 3:30 PM, Mr. S. Mbaye, a bus driver, went to the central police station in Guédiawaye to report a serious incident. One of his passengers had just lost consciousness on board his vehicle, near the bus stop located opposite the Guédiawaye Prefecture.

Alerted immediately, the firefighters of the 13th company went straight to the scene, found the victim in critical condition, and rushed him to King Baudouin Hospital. It was there that his death was officially confirmed.

The victim has been identified as A.Ly. He was an employee at the Pediatrics Department in Guédiawaye and was 49 years old.

A bag containing over 2 million francs was among his belongings.

The personal effects found on the deceased were carefully recorded at the station. Among them were a wallet containing his driver's license, a bank card and his professional card, two mobile phones, as well as a black bag containing 2,150,000 CFA francs, according to Seneweb sources.

Given the circumstances of the death, a request for an autopsy was issued and given to the fire department to determine the exact cause of death. The prosecutor of Pikine-Guédiawaye has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
