Hausse des agressions nocturnes à Tivaouane : La police déterminée à faire face
To combat the dizzying increase in nighttime attacks reported in several districts of Tivaouane, carried out by young individuals armed with machetes, the urban police station of the holy city, after having reinforced its security system, has decided to intensify night patrols in the most exposed areas.
Police report that the perpetrators of these attacks are primarily young men under the age of 25, residing primarily in the Keur Mass, Keur Ndiobo, and Kouly neighborhoods. They reportedly extend their activities to Keur Dabakh, Goumoune, and Alwar, causing concern among residents. The attackers typically operate from 10 p.m. onward, often in pairs on Jakarta-style motorcycles or in groups of five to ten people.
Almost always armed with machetes, they target passersby to rob them of their phones, money, or other valuables. According to the police, the Keur Ndiobo neighborhood is currently the worst affected.
Reinforced surveillance and prevention measures are now being implemented to ensure the safety of the population and deter the perpetrators of these attacks.
