Homosexualité : Plusieurs interpellations mais toujours non criminalisée
The criminalization of homosexuality, one of the flagship promises of the Sonko-Diomaye duo during the presidential campaign, has not yet been fulfilled. Despite repeated calls from the opposition, civil society, and some supporters to pass this law, no significant legislative progress has been made.
However, law enforcement is stepping up operations targeting suspected homosexual networks. These interventions have led to the arrest of several individuals in Dakar and other regions of the country. The most recent operation by the Gendarmerie targeted Keur Massar, resulting in the arrest of media personalities such as radio host Pape Cheikh Diallo and singer Djiby Dramé.
These actions aim to combat so-called "unnatural" acts. However, the majority of those arrested are released due to a lack of tangible evidence, as they are not caught in the act of committing such acts. Even though the regime demonstrates a political will to punish homosexuality, no law yet formally criminalizes it.
