Horreur à Diamniadio : Un Malien étrangle puis égorge sa femme et dissimule le corps
The Diamniadio Territorial Brigade arrested a Malian national last Friday who had slit his wife's throat before concealing her body to cover up his crime. The driver, B. Sanogo, 43, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
A couple in search of healing
The Sanogo couple are Malian nationals residing in Canada who occasionally spend their holidays between Senegal and Mali. For the past few months, the husband had been suffering from a mysterious illness that was seriously affecting his health.
Thus, since November 2025, the couple has reportedly been staying between Senegal and Mali for traditional treatments, unfortunately without success.
This desperate quest for a cure had led them to consult several traditional healers in the hope of finding a solution to this enigmatic illness.
On the night of Thursday, January 29 to Friday, January 30, 2026, the couple were taking their night walk in the streets of the "route de Thiès" district in the commune of Diamniadio.
It was during this outing that the tragedy would occur.
According to Seneweb sources, the husband suddenly had another outburst in the middle of the street.
Alone in the deserted streets at this late hour, the victim desperately tried to help her husband. She attempted to lift him from the ground where he had collapsed, unaware of the mortal danger that awaited her.
It was at that precise moment that the suspect grabbed her by the throat, coldly strangling her. He then slit her throat with a metal object, brutally ending the life of the woman who was trying to help him.
Having regained his composure after this deadly crisis, B. Sanogo realized the horror he had just committed. Seized by panic, he tried to conceal his wife's lifeless body. He dragged the corpse to a dark corner of the street where he abandoned it before fleeing the scene.
A false version of events
Once back at their guardian's house, the murderer gave a completely different version of events. He claimed that his wife had been forcibly taken away in the taxi that had transported them.
This improbable version immediately astonished his host.
Faced with this unusual story, the host advised B. Sanogo to go to the Diamniadio Gendarmerie Brigade to make an official declaration of disappearance.
But the trap was already closing on the murderer.
Meanwhile, an individual had already alerted the police to the discovery of a lifeless body in the streets of the "Thiès road" district.
According to Seneweb sources, the police went to the scene and found that it was the body of a woman with signs of strangulation and a cut throat.
When B. Sanogo came to the station to report his wife's disappearance with his far-fetched taxi story, the gendarmes quickly established the link between the body that was discovered and the alleged missing woman.
Faced with the glaring inconsistencies in his account and the evidence gathered at the crime scene, B. Sanogo was immediately arrested. The 43-year-old Malian national, a driver by profession, was taken into custody and placed in police custody for the murder of his wife.
The police conducted a rigorous interrogation, during which the contradictions in his initial statement became apparent. Confronted with the evidence and the discovery of the body, the suspect had no choice but to confess.
The victim's body was taken to Youssou Mbargane Hospital in Rufisque for an autopsy. Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, was informed of the facts.
