«Il m’a dit Koromack viens suivre le match…» : Sonko raconte sa finale avec Diomaye
The Africa Cup of Nations trophy was presented to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko on Friday. During the ceremony, held at the Administrative Building, he prayed that this success would open the door to "prosperity, peace, understanding, and economic progress in our country."
Ousmane Sonko then recounted his evening of January 18th. "I don't usually watch the national team's matches because of the stress. I lock myself in my room. It's only when I hear shouts of joy that I turn on the TV. As soon as the opposing team equalizes, I turn the TV off again. Because I can't bear this tension and emotion," he explained.
The President of the Republic's appeal
The Prime Minister also points out that, an hour before the final, the President of the Republic invited him to watch the match with him at the palace: "He told me, 'Koromack, come watch the match with me, I've set up a little fan zone here.'" Sonko says he initially declined the invitation. "He insisted, and I told him that with the emotion surrounding the match, I didn't want anyone to find out how I support the team," he says, his tone tinged with humor.
“But at half-time, I was told the score was zero goals apiece. I told the President that I was finally coming to watch the match with him, because I had hope. Unfortunately, at the end, people saw my jumping and I didn’t want to reveal it to the general public,” added the head of government, who couldn’t help but jump up on his chair, overcome by joy.
The cup belongs to the opposition and the average Senegalese citizen.
Ousmane Sonko praised the initiative of the members of the Senegalese Football Federation and the Ministry of Sports to come and present him with the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
"Your approach is good, because this is the team of all Senegalese people. The average citizen, if possible, allow him to touch the cup. If it is even possible, present the cup to the opposition. Because it belongs to them too," recommended the Prime Minister.

Si j'étais Sonko, je lancerais une carrière aussi sur Tiktok... juste pour embêter mes détracteurs !
Et pourtant bien avant son accession au pouvoir, de mes propres oreilles, j'ai une fois entendu le premier ministre Mr Sonko, dire qu'il se debarasserait du sable car on a des cimenteries et une main d'oeuvre. Cela creera de l'emploi pour les jeunes.
