Inondations à Touba : « La situation est très critique »
In an interview with L'Observateur, Serigne Abdou Fatah Gueye, vice-president of Touba Ca Kanam, describes an alarming situation in the religious city, which has been hit by heavy rains for several days. He warns of the extent of the damage and calls for urgent action.
According to him, almost all of Touba's neighborhoods are affected, including Keur Niang, Guiranène, Firdawsi, Sétou, Darou Miname, and Darou Khoudoss. The sanitation network is inadequate, causing stagnant water, damaging homes, equipment, supplies, and livestock, and endangering the health of residents.
In response to this disaster, Touba Ca Kanam reopened the "Keur Wallu" reception center, designed to house disaster victims. The facility has basic amenities and operates thanks to the solidarity of its residents, with occasional support from military and civilian authorities.
"The population needs help"
The source for the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group called on the government to strengthen the evacuation system with more motor pumps and human resources, as the situation could worsen as the winter continues. He also urged owners of unoccupied homes to make them available to the victims.
