Italie : un Sénégalais poignardé à mort après une violente dispute avec sa femme, le suspect partageait…
Mamadou Diallo, a 39-year-old Senegalese man living in Italy, died in violent and disturbing circumstances. He was stabbed to death by a 44-year-old Cape Verdean. The tragedy occurred this Saturday at around 7 a.m. in Tomba, a residential neighborhood north of Rome.
It all started with an argument between the victim and his wife, also of Cape Verdean origin. According to the report by L'es Echos, which reported the incident, Diallo went to his wife's home to smooth things over. The couple, who have been estranged, have not lived together for several months, the newspaper points out.
Unfortunately, the same source continues, what was supposed to be an exchange turned into an argument. Tensions rose, voices followed, alerting, according to Les Echos, passersby and neighbors, including the alleged perpetrator of the crime, who allegedly intervened.
"The Senegalese man allegedly tried in vain to hit the 44-year-old man with a glass bottle thrown in his direction. The latter allegedly grabbed a knife and violently struck Mamadou Diallo in the neck," Les Echos reported, echoing the Italian police's version of events.
The newspaper continues: "Passers-by, witnesses to the scene, called for help. Medical teams rushed the victim to the San Pietro-Fatebenefratelli hospital. Despite the doctors' efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries, suffering from massive hemorrhage."
The daily newspaper reports that the suspect was arrested an hour after the tragedy, his pants stained with blood. The same source adds that he is currently in custody at the Ponte Milvio police station and is expected to appear before a judge shortly.
Les Echos reports that investigators are continuing their investigations, but "are favoring the theory of a crime of passion."
