Kaffrine : Un violent incendie détruit deux concessions à Ndodj
A fire of rare violence broke out Thursday evening in the village of Ndodj, commune of Kahi (Centre), ravaging two concessions and causing significant material damage, reports the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).
A prominent villager and municipal councilor indicated that the losses are estimated at over one million CFA francs. He denounced the slow response of the firefighters and the gendarmerie, which he attributed to the poor condition of the road connecting the village.
Faced with this situation, the inhabitants of Ndodj are making an urgent appeal to the State for the construction of the Kaffrine - Ndioum; Nguenth - Toune; Sarocogne - Ndodj axis, in order to facilitate access for emergency services in the event of a disaster.
This disaster comes the day after the Council of Ministers meeting, during which President Bassirou Diomaye Faye stressed the need for a profound transformation of prevention and civil protection systems. He mentioned the resurgence of fires, bushfires, road accidents, building collapses, and drownings, citing in particular the recent disaster in Touba Thiarène (Koungheul department), where 15 houses and 115 huts were reduced to ashes, destroying food and essential belongings.
