Kalifourou : Saisie record de 243 plaquettes de cocaïne d’une valeur de 19 milliards F CFA
Senegalese customs officers have just carried out another major raid in the fight against international drug trafficking. This Tuesday, around 1 p.m., the Kalifourou customs office, part of the Southern Regional Customs Directorate, seized 243 packets of cocaine, weighing a total of 239.25 kg.
A meticulously prepared operation
According to customs officials, this seizure was the result of intelligence reporting the shipment of narcotics from a neighboring country. Alerted, surveillance teams implemented a special system that led to the interception of a suspicious vehicle, a Renault Trafic registered in Senegal. Following the search, officers discovered a specially prepared hiding place containing the 243 brake pads. Tests conducted by the National Laboratory of Technical and Scientific Police confirmed that the drug was indeed cocaine.
Three individuals arrested
Three foreign nationals aboard the vehicle were arrested. The drugs seized are estimated at 19,160 million CFA francs. An investigation is underway to determine the extent of the network and its ramifications.
In a statement, the Customs Administration praised the vigilance of its officers and reiterated its determination to combat transnational organized crime, particularly drug trafficking. It also called on the public to collaborate more closely with government services to strengthen the effectiveness of this fight.
