Two young men were arrested and taken into custody by officers from the Kaolack central police station for armed robbery committed at night as part of a group, using a vehicle. The incident occurred on March 6, 2026, at approximately 3:00 AM.

According to the victim, MT, a 19-year-old student residing in Darou Rahmaty, was in front of his house using his cell phone when an individual attacked him unexpectedly, snatched his phone, and fled. The assailant then joined his accomplice, who was waiting for him on a motorcycle.

Faced with the situation, the victim began shouting "Thief!", alerting the neighbors. Local residents reacted quickly and gave chase to the fleeing suspects on motorcycles. After several minutes of pursuit, the two suspects were caught and apprehended in Fass Cheikh Tidiane.

But fearing that the two attackers would be lynched, the victim alerted the central police station in Kaolack, whose officers intervened and took them to the station.

The accused were identified by the initials SS, 19 years old, a motorcycle driver residing in Taba Ngoye, and OM, 18 years old, a tiler residing in the same neighborhood.

When questioned briefly, they admitted to the charges against them in this case of robbery with violence committed at night as a group using a means of transport.

Following their questioning, they were taken into custody for the purposes of the investigation. The public prosecutor's office has been informed and the procedure is ongoing.
