Elements of the Kaolack central police station, under the command of Divisional Commissioner Souleymane Ba, arrested a suspected motorcycle thief operating in the city. His arrest was facilitated by the vigilance of local children.
On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 7:35 p.m., Saloum urban security police arrested A. Niang, known as "A. Khaly," aged 18, from Mbacké. He was taken into custody following a complaint filed by D. Dièye for motorcycle theft.
According to the complainant's statements, A. Niang came to his home under false pretenses. He then took advantage of D. Dièye's sleep to steal his device.
Fortunately, some children playing in the yard witnessed the incident and formally identified A. Niang as the perpetrator of the theft. This crucial testimony allowed investigators to identify and arrest the suspect.
Faced with the police, he attempted an appeasement strategy, claiming to be able to provide information on the location of the stolen motorcycle, in exchange for any prosecution.
The first two motorcycles he indicated did not match the complainant's. Worse still, he was unable to justify their possession or identify their rightful owners, according to Seneweb sources. This reveals a pattern of motorcycle theft.
During the investigation, members of the municipal surveillance brigade discovered an abandoned motorcycle near the city center. The vehicle indeed matches that of D. Dièye. It was made available to the police department for further investigation. The public prosecutor at the Kaolack High Court was informed of the facts.
