Traffic was severely disrupted this Thursday morning on the Dakar-Bamako corridor, near the Kédougou town hall roundabout. A heavy-duty truck bound for Mali broke down in the middle of the road, blocking the passage of vehicles.
This strategic road, heavily used by motorists and hauliers, is now paralyzed. "Taxis-clando," "tiak-tiak," and road users are irritated by the slowness of the measures to clear the truck. "We've been stuck for hours, and no one tells us when the road will be cleared," complains a taxi driver, forced to park his vehicle while waiting for a successful outcome.
Beyond the inconvenience, the risk of accidents is real on this particularly busy stretch. Drivers are calling on local authorities to take action to restore traffic flow and prevent further tragedies.
Meanwhile, the roundabout at Kédougou town hall has become a real bottleneck on the Dakar-Bamako axis.
