Kédougou : Un trafiquant de chanvre indien et de Tramadol arrêté à Bantaco

An operation carried out by the Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of Kédougou led to the dismantling, last Thursday around 10 p.m., of a suspected network trafficking in Indian hemp and Tramadol tablets in the village of Bantaco.

Acting on operational intelligence, BRS officers arrested S. Barry, a 24-year-old Guinean national who presented himself as a carpenter and resided in Bantaco. According to investigators, the young man was using his small restaurant as a front for his illegal activities.

During his arrest at the shop, officers discovered four Tramadol tablets in his possession. A subsequent search of his home yielded 70 more Tramadol tablets as well as several blocks of cannabis, for a total weight of eight kilograms.

Faced with this overwhelming evidence, the suspect was taken into custody for possession and trafficking of marijuana, as well as for the illegal sale of medication. He will be brought before the prosecutor in Kédougou in the coming hours to answer for his actions.

This arrest is part of the ongoing fight by security forces against drug trafficking and prohibited medicines in the region, a scourge that is affecting more and more border towns.
