Khossanto : Un éboulement entre Douta et Sambrambougou fait un mort
A tragedy occurred yesterday around 11 a.m. in the commune of Khossanto, department of Saraya. A landslide between the villages of Douta and Sambrambougou reportedly claimed one life, according to local sources.
According to initial reports gathered on site, the incident occurred at an artisanal mining site in an area regularly frequented by gold miners. "We heard a loud noise, then shouts. When we arrived, the ground had already collapsed," said a local resident contacted by telephone.
Witnesses report that several people were at the site when the landslide occurred. Rescue efforts were quickly organized with the support of local residents to try and free the buried victims. Tragically, one body was recovered from the rubble.
Administrative and security authorities have been informed, and an investigation should be opened to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
The area, renowned for its artisanal gold mining activities, is regularly exposed to the risk of collapse, particularly due to soil instability and the uncontrolled digging of tunnels.
This new landslide raises the issue of safety at artisanal mining sites in the department of Saraya, where accidents have become recurrent in recent years.
