The day after Tabaski, the city of Ziguinchor awoke to an unusual calm. The main thoroughfares, normally bustling, were almost deserted.
The Boucotte and Tilène markets, usually bustling, have only a few stalls open. At the Boucotte market, the roadway, often cluttered with street vendors and their stalls, is clear, facilitating the movement of pedestrians and vehicles.
The bus station, usually noisy, is plunged into cathedral-like silence. Vehicles are parked, waiting for hypothetical passengers. Only a few routes into the interior of the region (Oussouye, Cap-Skirring, Bignona, Kalounayes road) show a slight demand.
From the 54-meter boulevard to the Aline Sitoé Diatta roundabout, all the way to Place Jean-Paul II, the observation is the same: smooth traffic, clear streets, calm atmosphere.
Ziguinchor seems to have allowed itself a break, breathing easier after the fervor of the Feast of the Sacrifice.
