Licenciement abusif : un chroniqueur réputé va toucher 64 millions F CFA de compensation
The Agency for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (AEME) has been ordered to pay 64,513,000 CFA francs to Bachir Fofana. The journalist, a columnist for the newspaper Le Quotidien and a television personality, had filed a complaint against the agency, where he was the communications director, for wrongful dismissal.
The newspaper Le Quotidien, which broke the story, notes that Fofana was fired on August 1, 2024, without notice. The newly appointed director of AEME at the time cited "insubordination," the paper reports.
The labor court, which reinstated the journalist's rights, ordered the provisional enforcement of its decision for one million CFA francs, the same source whispers.
AEME has fifteen days to appeal.
