L'opération anti-drogue dégénère : deux policiers lynchés, l'un d'entre eux dépouillé de son téléphone
An operation by the Keur Massar Research Brigade (BR), conducted on the night of February 14th in Darou Missette, escalated into violent clashes. While attempting to dismantle a marijuana sales point, L'Observateur reports that the officers were attacked by dealers and members of their entourage.
The newspaper of the Future Media Group, which recounts the scene in its Wednesday edition, reports that the operation had started well enough with the arrest of two deliverymen and the seizure of 38 packets of drugs. But when the police tried to apprehend the suspected supplier, nicknamed "Gora," the situation escalated. Armed with machetes and supported by relatives and neighbors, several individuals attacked the police.
Officer LS Coly sustained serious head, side, and leg injuries and was evacuated to Fann Hospital. His colleague, A. Seck, was wounded in the leg. Taking advantage of the confusion, the first two suspects arrested managed to escape while handcuffed. During the attack, Officer Coly was also robbed of his phone and identification, the same source added.
Thanks to the arrival of reinforcements, seven people, including two women and the alleged machete attacker, Mr. Dassouza, were arrested. The suspects are being prosecuted for attempted murder of a police officer, drug trafficking, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement, and armed robbery. The two alleged ringleaders, known as "Gora" and "Maco," are actively being sought.
