The Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of OCRTIS struck hard on Sunday, August 4, 2025, by simultaneously conducting two major operations that demonstrate the intensification of the fight against drug trafficking.

The first operation took place in Almadies around 6:30 p.m., in an area that has become infamous for its presence of kush dealers. Acting on reliable intelligence, BRS police arrested I. Doumbouya, a Guinean national born in 1998 and claiming to be an electrician.

The intervention follows the careful exploitation of information revealing the existence of a kush trafficking network in the Almadies sector and its surroundings. Investigations had led to the identification of a foreign individual who was allegedly holding large quantities of drugs in a makeshift dwelling located in this upscale area of the capital.

The specialized team deployed to the scene conducted a surprise operation by storming the suspect's home. The arrest resulted in the seizure of 26 kepas of kush that the alleged trafficker was preparing to deliver to his customers.

At the time of his arrest, I. Doumbouya was also in possession of two mobile phones and the sum of 2.5 million CFA francs, elements which constitute all indications of his illicit activity.

Second seizure: 10 kilograms of Indian hemp in Nguékhokh

The second operation, on an even larger scale, took place in the evening around 10:30 p.m. at the Nguékhokh Camp. This intervention led to the seizure of 10 kilograms of Indian hemp, revealing the existence of a vast trafficking network between Dakar and this town on the Petite Côte.

The operation originated from intelligence reports of a large-scale network led by a man named Assane, nicknamed "Peulh." Investigators then initiated an undercover operation by establishing contact with the suspect.

An order for 15 kilograms of Indian hemp was successfully placed with the alleged trafficker, at a unit price of 70,000 CFA francs. This fictitious transaction was initially scheduled to take place at the EDK station in Bargny, before the suspect changed the meeting place to the Nguékhokh Campsite.

A spectacular escape with a knife threat

The operation took a dramatic turn when law enforcement officers stormed the property. The suspect, having carefully hidden the goods in a secure location, quickly detected the police presence. In his hasty escape, he abandoned a bag containing 10 kilograms of Indian hemp and his Jakarta motorcycle, according to Seneweb sources.

The most critical moment of the intervention occurred during the ensuing chase. Faced with the police officers on his trail, the fugitive did not hesitate to brandish a bladed weapon, illustrating the dangerous nature of these criminal networks. Despite this direct threat to the police, the suspect ultimately managed to escape by disappearing into the background.
