Lutte contre les trafics illicites : La douane intercepte près de 28 t de cuisses de poulet
As part of safeguarding the national poultry industry and protecting the population against health risks, the high seas customs brigade carried out two major seizures of chicken thighs.
On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at around 7 a.m., off the coast of Gorée Island, agents intercepted a small fishing boat carrying 427 packages of chicken thighs, for a total weight of 12.810 t.
A few days earlier, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, another vessel had been intercepted off the coast of Mbao with 630 cartons of chicken thighs on board, representing 15.120 t. The total value of the seized chicken thighs is estimated at 57 million CFA francs.
These operations also resulted in the seizure of numerous fishing nets and various goods, as well as the arrest of 19 people.
According to the Customs Administration, these interventions aim to protect domestic production and prevent health risks associated with the consumption of unfit poultry products.
