Lutte Contre l’insécurité alimentaire à Bakel : 3142 ménages vulnérables auront chacun 135 000 FCFA

After Ranérou, Matam, Podor and Kanel, the Minister of Family and Solidarity Maimouna Dièye, officially launched the cash transfer payments of the Food Insecurity Response Project, for the year 2025, to beneficiaries in the departments of Bakel and Goudiry.

This is in accordance with the response plan of the National Solidarity Fund (NSF), which concerns a total of 10,000 vulnerable households spread across the departments of Podor, Matam, Bakel, Goudiry and Salémata.

Thus, a total of 3,542 vulnerable households, including 1,617 in Bakel and 1,525 in Goudiry, will each receive direct financial support of 135,000 FCFA to help them get through this difficult period.

In this surge of solidarity rolled out by the Ministry of Family and Solidarity, a project, financed by the World Bank and implemented by the DGPSN (General Delegation for Social Protection and National Solidarity), has made it possible to support 2,052 vulnerable households, whose income depends mainly on agriculture and livestock, in the department of Ranérou, which are severely affected by the effects of climate change, for a total amount of 410 million francs, at 200,000 francs per beneficiary.

As part of the initiative aimed at strengthening the resilience of vulnerable households facing food insecurity, the Matam department has been allocated a total of more than 291 million CFA francs, intended for 2,160 households. Each household will receive a transfer of 135,000 CFA francs, covering three months of food consumption.

In the same vein, an envelope of 364.5 million CFA francs was also allocated to 2,700 vulnerable households in the Podor department, as part of the food insecurity response program, financed by the World Bank through the National Solidarity Fund (FSD).

For the department of Kanel, it is a total envelope of 273,240,000 CFA francs , which is intended for   2,024 households identified through the Single National Register (SNR) .

In recent years, due to adverse weather conditions linked to climate change, several localities in Senegal have been plagued by spectacular flooding of the Senegal River, the decline and irregularity of rainfall, and food insecurity linked, among other things, to the inflation of basic foodstuffs.

In the Tambacounda region, the departments of Bakel and Goudiry, entire families suffered heavy losses caused by the floods.

"Here, more than anywhere else, the combined flooding and food insecurity have jeopardized the peace and security of families. Faced with this reality, my Ministry, responsible for the Government's social policy, has assigned the FSN and the Food Security and Resilience Commission the mission of strengthening the resilience of the most affected populations by providing them with immediate but also long-term support," the Minister emphasized during the ceremony held in the commune of Bakel.

During which, she noted the commitment and determination of the State to provide assistance to populations facing the drastic effects of the crisis, resulting from natural phenomena.

On this occasion, she also recalled that "it is in the same spirit that last year at the same time, in the company of the Minister of the Interior, they carried out a site visit to the villages of Yaféra, Balou and Aroundou heavily impacted by the overflowing of the Falémé."

In front of the administrative and territorial authorities, technical and financial partners and stakeholders, she assured that "the payments by monetary transfers to the beneficiaries of the departments of Bakel and Goudiry, are also accompanied by a distribution of food kits including 22 tons of rice, in support of the families who recently suffered the consequences of the floods in the department of Bakel."

Arrêtez de politiser la misère des gens. Distribuez des aides en préservant la dignité des hommes. Faites votre pub sans montrer le visage des gens.
