Mandat d’arrêt pour meurtre : un Sénégalais arrêté à Philadelphie
A 34-year-old Senegalese national, GT Fall, was arrested in Philadelphia, USA, during a targeted operation conducted by ERO, a branch of ICE responsible for deportations. According to Les Échos, which reported the story in its Wednesday, December 3rd edition, the arrest followed an international arrest warrant issued by Brazil for murder. Fall, who had already been intercepted in 2021 at the border between Mexico and the United States and subsequently released under supervision, was located again after a new alert from Brazilian authorities.
He is currently in custody pending further proceedings, which could result in his extradition to Brazil or his removal from the country. The newspaper notes, however, that few details have emerged regarding the Brazilian case: the nature of the alleged crime, the specific charges, and even the position of the Senegalese consular authorities remain unknown.
This arrest comes amid a tightening of ICE operations targeting undocumented migrants, and raises concerns within the Senegalese diaspora, which is often exposed to generalizations when an isolated incident makes headlines, the same source reports.
