Mariages et Grossesses précoces en milieu scolaire : L’académie de Matam passe à l’offensive
The Matam Academy has just conducted capacity-building workshops for adolescents on vulnerability factors (early marriages, FGM, early pregnancies...).
The training session held at the regional cultural center involved forty secondary school students (30 girls and 10 boys) for better psychosocial, legal and health support and the promotion of the use of PEC services for survivors in order to overcome associated barriers.
The learning was focused on Human Rights and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in community and school settings, harmful practices and Communication for Behavior Change (CBC).
Ms. Diaw Nafissatou Ly, in charge of the Gender division of the Matam academy, highlighted to the stakeholders the importance of holding the training session for secondary school students.
“Strengthening the knowledge and capacity of women actors in intervention areas on human rights and GBV in community and school settings, harmful practices and ways to mitigate them through Behavior Change Communication (BCC) is of paramount importance,” suggested Ms. Diaw Nafissatou Ly.
For three days, the training session, coordinated by grassroots partners in the Matam region and facilitated by specialized resource persons, provided an opportunity to discuss, through plenary presentations, topics related to vulnerability factors, GBV and mass communication techniques, communication priorities in the intervention areas…
