MASAE et le Rotary International : Vers une souveraineté alimentaire durable et un développement communautaire inclusif
On an official visit to Senegal, the Governor of Rotary International District 9101, Abou-Bakar Ouattara, was received in audience by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Livestock, Dr. Mabouba Diagne. This meeting, held at the initiative of the President of the Rotary Club Dakar Nouvel Horizon, Mahamoudou Talibé Ba, marks an important step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the Ministry and the international organization.
The shared desire to promote concrete actions in favor of food security, sustainable development and the empowerment of rural communities was at the heart of the discussions.
Minister Diagne praised Rotary's commitment, highlighting the convergence between the missions of MASAE (food sovereignty, producer resilience, sustainable agriculture) and the values of solidarity and service championed by the Rotary movement.
For his part, Abou-Bakar Ouattara reaffirmed Rotary's ambition to support public policies, particularly in rural areas, through high-impact projects in the fields of agriculture, education and community health.
This audience is part of a national symposium bringing together all Rotary clubs in Senegal, an opportunity to strengthen network cohesion, share best practices and plan future initiatives to serve the people.
Already active on the ground, Rotary International is expanding its projects across the country. In Dahra, a community literacy center was inaugurated to strengthen the skills of young people and women, and in Gorée, the construction of public toilets has improved sanitation conditions. Rotary also supports scholarships for deserving students, contributing to the emergence of future leaders.
Among the key projects discussed at the meeting was the creation of a community agricultural cooperative on Dolly's ranch. This initiative aims to enhance local resources, promote good agricultural practices, and generate sustainable income for producers.
At the end of the hearing, both parties agreed to formalize their collaboration through a memorandum of understanding and the establishment of a monitoring framework to identify and execute projects with a strong social impact.
