Mbacké : 5 cambrioleurs arrêtés par la police, 48 munitions, un fusil et des machettes saisis
The Mbacké police station has put an end to the activities of a group of five thieves who had burglarized the shop of their neighbor, MC Fall. The criminals had carefully planned their crime before carrying it out.
It all began on December 12th, when MC Fall, a 25-year-old shopkeeper residing in the Palène neighborhood, went to the police station to file a complaint with Commissioner Alioune Fall, head of the Mbacké urban police station. The shopkeeper stated that his store had been burglarized.
According to his statements, the perpetrators stole three HP brand laptops, a mobile phone, an undetermined number of phone accessories, including MP3 players, as well as a sum of 100,000 CFA francs, according to Seneweb sources.
The investigation, launched immediately, yielded a key testimony. The witness claimed to have overheard young people from his neighborhood planning the robbery of the shop the day before the incident.
Following an intensive investigation, officers from the Criminal Investigation Brigade arrested five suspects during the night of December 12-13. They are metal welder I. Diba, mechanic A. Ba, metal welder F. Niass, tailor A. Kassé, and tattoo artist PB Fall. All reside in the same neighborhood as the victim.
When questioned by investigators, four of the suspects admitted to participating in the shop robbery. They stated that the stolen goods had been entrusted to their accomplice, BC Diop, who is still at large. A. Kassé denied direct involvement in the crime but admitted to meeting the rest of the group in possession of the loot after the robbery.
Searches conducted at their respective homes allowed law enforcement to seize an impressive arsenal: a crowbar, four machetes, a knife, a homemade rifle, and 48 rounds of ammunition.
All these items were discovered in the room of I. Diba, identified as the mastermind of this criminal group. He is regularly implicated in cases of assault and mobile phone theft in the area.
Placed in police custody at the Mbacké urban police station for criminal association, robbery committed at night with breaking and entering and possession of weapons, the five burglars were to be brought before the Diourbel High Court on Monday, unless there was a change of plans.
This arrest puts an end, at least temporarily, to the actions of a gang that terrorized the inhabitants of the Palène district and its surroundings.
