An attempted rape case is rocking the commune of Mbacké. The local urban police station arrested a suspect on the night of August 27-28, 2025, following a complaint filed by a young woman.

Alleged attack in the fields of Ndiayenne

The incident allegedly occurred on August 26, 2025, around 5 p.m. in fields located on the outskirts of Mbacké, specifically in the Ndiayenne neighborhood. According to the statements of the complainant, identified by the initials F. Lèye, she was with a friend picking sorrel leaves when the tragedy occurred.

The alleged victim said she was surprised from behind by an individual who allegedly grabbed her before groping her. When she resisted, the alleged assailant allegedly used violence, knocking her to the ground and punching her in the left eye. He also allegedly tried to remove her loincloth.

The victim's friend, who witnessed the scene, reportedly ran away in a panic to seek help. This reaction reportedly prompted the suspect to abandon his actions and flee, leaving the victim behind.

Injuries certified by a medical certificate

The seriousness of the facts is corroborated by a medical certificate which establishes a Temporary Incapacity for Work (ITT) of four days for F. Lèye. This medical document supports the complaint filed by the young woman and attests to the violence she allegedly suffered.

The arrest and the suspect's version

Thanks to the investigations carried out by the men of Commissioner Alioune Fall, the suspect was located and arrested at his home in the Mbacké Khéwar district. Placed in police custody, the man was questioned about the facts with which he is accused.

However, his version of events differs radically from that of the complainant. The accused categorically denies the accusations against him. He claims that he was simply passing through the fields to check when he encountered the two women.

According to his statements, he was the victim of the assault. He claims that when he asked the two women why they were in what he considers his field, the alleged victim insulted him before slapping him twice and knocking him down. He then fled after a third party intervened.
