Mbao : Démantèlement d'un gang spécialisé dans le vol et le dépiéçage de véhicules
The local gendarmerie brigade in the industrial free zone has dismantled a criminal network specializing in vehicle theft and their conversion into spare parts. Three individuals were brought before the public prosecutor on Monday.
Three suspects in the hands of the justice system
Under the command of Warrant Officer Abdou Fama Guèye, the gendarmes brought mechanic C. Cissé and scrap metal dealers S. Kanté and O. Diop before the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court on Monday. They are being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy and vehicle theft, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office.
According to the evidence gathered during the investigation, S. Kanté, along with O. Diop and C. Cissé, had as their main activity stealing vehicles parked in the streets, then dismantling them and selling the spare parts.
The gang operated according to a well-established pattern: O. Diop, C. Cissé, and a certain Ousmane, whose full identity has not been revealed, were responsible for stealing the vehicles. They would then tow them, along with C. Cissé's vehicle, to S. Kanté's garage, where the stolen cars were discreetly dismantled for spare parts.
The police seized a large quantity of spare parts and several wrecks in the garage located in Mbao, which served as the network's operational base.
The fourth accomplice is actively being sought
The fourth member of the gang, identified only as Ousmane, is currently being actively sought by law enforcement. The investigation continues to completely dismantle this network and locate all accomplices.
