Mbour : deux femmes envoyées en prison pour avoir acheté des voitures volées par le… frère de l’une d’elles
A beautician, MN Fall, a hotel owner, MN Dièye, and a man named Mb. A. Aïdara are in serious trouble. Placed under arrest warrants for receiving stolen vehicles, they have been sent to the Mbour Detention and Correctional Center. According to L'Observateur, which covered the case in its Monday edition, the trio appears to be paying the price for Ch. Fall, the man at the center of the affair, who is currently nowhere to be found.
On October 26, as the newspaper Groupe Futurs Médias recounts, Ch. Fall rented two cars from L. Mbaye, manager of a parking lot in Saly Portudal. For the use of a Kia Sportage and a Citroën for 30 days, the bill came to 1.2 million CFA francs.
"A down payment of 950,000 CFA francs was paid, with the remaining 250,000 CFA francs due upon return of the cars," the newspaper reports. "But when the contract expired on November 25, there was no further news from Ch. Fall. Unable to reach him, the manager filed a theft complaint on December 1 at the Saly Portudal police station."
The investigation is underway. The research brigade has located the two vehicles. "The Citroën was found in the possession of MN Fall, a beautician in Gandigal and sister of Ch. Fall," the same source reports. When questioned, she stated that she had bought the car from her brother for 1.5 million CFA francs before reselling it to Mb. A. Aïdara for 2.7 million CFA francs. This transaction was confirmed by the latter.
The Kia, meanwhile, was spotted in Malicounda in the hands of hotelier MN Dièye who, according to L'Observateur, claims to have acquired it for 4 million CFA francs from Ch. Fall.
The two vehicles having been sold "clandestinely," in their view, investigators arrested the three buyers, placed them in police custody, and then brought before the prosecutor's office where they were remanded in custody. "The main suspect, Ch. Fall, is still at large and is the subject of an active arrest warrant issued by the Saly Portudal police," adds L'Observateur.
