The complainant, residing in the ONCAD district of Mbour, claims that the suspect lured the child into his room. After giving him a 1000 CFA franc note as a "ndéweneul" (bribe), he began to touch him inappropriately, in front of the victim's girlfriend.
The girls managed to escape. They alerted the shopkeeper, who then contacted the police. "The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect. Briefly questioned upon his arrival at the police station, Mr. Niang readily admitted to the charges against him, but maintained that he had acted under the influence of Satan," reports Libération, which broke the story in its Monday edition.
