Mbour : un fils alcoolique tabasse son père et le menace de mort avec une machette
Ousmane S., a shepherd living with his parents in Mbour, was tried for serious violence against his father, Moussa S., whom he violently beat and threatened to kill with a machete after the latter forbade him to consume alcohol.
The events took place last July, rewinds L'Observateur, when the accused, returning drunk from a bar, attacked his father on the family terrace. Narrowly saved by the intervention of his wife and other children, Moussa S. filed a complaint. The son was arrested and remanded in custody.
During the hearing, the father gave a poignant testimony, detailing his son's repeated violence and his efforts to help him overcome his alcoholism, going so far as to buy him 30 oxen to help him stabilize. The defendant, quoted by the Groupe Futur Médias daily, admitted the facts but attempted to exonerate himself by blaming his actions on alcohol, requesting leniency from the court.
The prosecutor requested a three-month prison sentence. The verdict is expected on September 18.
