Mbour : Un nouveau-né, abandonné dans des toilettes, décède quelques heures après son évacuation à l'hôpital
The urban security unit of the central police station in Mbour arrested a woman for infanticide. This arrest followed a telephone report from the Mbour fire brigade, who informed them of the discovery of a newborn boy abandoned in the toilet of a house located in the Santessou neighborhood, near the center for disabled people.
That's how a team from the criminal investigation department, dispatched to the scene, found a newborn baby alive, lying on the floor, after it had been pulled from the toilet drainpipe, approximately 100 mm in diameter, of a house's latrine. Neighbors interviewed testified that they had heard cries coming from the toilet since 7 p.m., but that they hadn't been able to locate the baby until the toilet seat was removed.
A request was sent to the management of the Thierno Mansour Barro Hospital in Mbour on October 30th for the examination of women residing in the house. The medical certificate issued by the gynecologist-obstetrician concluded that a woman living in the house had recently given birth.
Unfortunately, the newborn died a few hours after being taken to the hospital.
The suspect has been taken into custody for infanticide.
