“Mbouru Daara Yi” : Une bouffée d’espoir pour éradiquer la mendicité des talibés
The “Mbouru Daara Yi” project, the second phase of which has just been launched, aims to put an end to begging among talibé children. Focusing on the creation of mobile bakeries in the daaras, it aims to transform the daily lives of thousands of young talibés by offering a concrete alternative to begging.
Imam Bassirou Dieng, a Quranic teacher in Tambacounda and beneficiary of the pilot project, testifies to the positive impact of this initiative. "When we ask the talibés to stop begging, we must offer a viable solution to their teachers. The Mbouru Daara Yi project is a very important experience for us. Thanks to this bakery, we are able to generate up to 500,000 CFA francs per month. Expanding the project could completely eradicate begging among children in Daaras," he explains.
He also emphasizes the importance of self-sufficiency, pointing out that the bread is made from millet and corn produced locally by the Daaras themselves.
Led by the Local Development Agency (ADL) as part of the Community Resilience Strengthening Program (PR2C), the project is fully in line with Senegal's national food sovereignty strategy. According to Diamé Signaté, director of the ADL, the pilot phase was a resounding success, generating growing demand across the country.
"In 2025, we aim to extend the project to new departments such as Diourbel, Dagana, Guédiawaye, Kaolack, Rufisque, among others. The objective is to move towards territorial equity in the care of Daaras," he explained.
According to the latter, the prospects are ambitious. They aim to train more than 2,000 talibés, equip 1,500 Ndayu Daara (women responsible for supervision in daaras), and install 500 bakery units throughout the territory by the end of the project. Ultimately, this system should generate more than 1,500 direct and indirect jobs, from grain cultivation to bread making.
Diamé Signaté invited all stakeholders (State, communities, NGOs, religious leaders and civil society) to support this new phase, emphasizing that success requires collective mobilization.
“It is through symbiosis that we can amplify the impact, extend the project to more Daaras, and sustainably transform the lives of thousands of children.”

Et, les autres questions nefastes.des Daras sont occultées : pedophilie, maltraitance entre autres!
