Menaces sur les Niayes : Les agro-pasteurs de Diender interpellent sur la préservation de la vocation agricole et pastorale
As the Africa Food Systems Forum approaches, scheduled to take place in Senegal from August 31 to September 6, 2025, the Federation of Agro-Pastors of Diender (FAPD), in the department of Thiès, is sounding the alarm about the threats weighing on the agricultural and pastoral vocation of the Niayes area, and more broadly on Senegalese agriculture.
During a press briefing held this Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in Bayakh, members of the FAPD urged the government to promote healthy and sustainable agriculture in Niayes to ensure better food security.
The FAPD reaffirms its commitment to curbing the degradation of natural resources and the loss of agricultural land and grazing areas. It supports farmers and pastoralists in adopting effective agroecological practices, while also assisting them in professionalizing their activities and improving their positioning within their sectors.
