Miss Ambassadrice Casamance 2025 : 16 candidates pour promouvoir la paix, le tourisme et le désenclavement
The Port of Ziguinchor, the Joola Memorial Museum, and other iconic sites will be absent from the 2025 edition of Miss Ambassadrice Casamance and Casamance Fashion Week. Organizers explained these omissions during a press conference held on the sidelines of the event, which is being presented as a major driver of tourism promotion in the south of the country.
Led by the Sitoé Foundation, this initiative is part of a broader movement for peace, cultural appreciation, and youth support. Through Fashion Week and the Miss Ambassador Casamance pageant, promoter Aya Guèye aims to promote responsible tourism, showcase local crafts and creativity, and support women's empowerment.
“The goal is to promote the Casamance region as a destination, but also to showcase the talent of designers and artisans,” explained Aya Gueye. The competition also aims to guide young women toward entrepreneurship. “African women are the heart of society. We want to encourage young women to understand the importance of financial independence,” she added.
The promoter also emphasizes the ambition to raise national and international awareness of Casamance's economic, cultural, and tourism potential. The organizers are simultaneously advocating for opening up the region. "Through fashion, we want to contribute to the development of Casamance and promote 'Made in Africa,' meaning local consumption," she explains.
Aya Guèye also calls for the development of infrastructure capable of enhancing the region's attractiveness: "We cannot talk about development without infrastructure."
For the 2025 edition, sixteen candidates from Sédhiou, Kolda and Ziguinchor will compete, with challenges highlighting their general knowledge and their knowledge of the region.
