The resurgence of cattle theft cases in the village of "Ndiayéne Bagana", located in the commune of Ndiognick, department of Birkilane, continues to cause serious concern and deep anger among the local population.
According to this young man, who preferred to remain anonymous, acts of theft are on the rise in this village located along National Route 1 (RN1), a strategic road linking the towns of Kaffrine and Birkilane. The most recent case was recorded on the night of January 12-13, 2026, with the theft of seventeen (17) sheep belonging to a local herder.
These repeated thefts plunge the inhabitants into a climate of constant insecurity, especially since livestock farming is the main source of income for many families. "We no longer sleep peacefully. Every night, we fear waking up to find that another herd has disappeared," confides a visibly distressed villager.
Faced with this worrying situation, the residents of Ndiayéne Bagana are making an urgent appeal to the Birkilane Gendarmerie Brigade. They are specifically requesting increased and reinforced night patrols in their village and surrounding areas to deter criminals and restore a climate of security.
While awaiting concrete measures, residents fear a worsening of the situation if nothing is done to put an end to these acts of theft which threaten both the local economy and the peace of rural populations.
