Nguékhokh : le voleur d'ustensiles de cuisine condamné
In Nguékhokh, housewives can now sleep peacefully: the mysterious nighttime robberies that had been disrupting the village for several weeks have ended with the arrest of Th. M. Kabou, a Sierra Leonean national living in the area.
Very early in the morning, he would steal pots, bowls and various kitchen accessories from several concessions and then resell them to scrap metal dealers in Mbour.
According to L'Observateur, he was caught by a resident, Talla Dièye, on October 7th: the latter saw him carrying several utensils, some still filled with food. The gendarmes, alerted, discovered a large quantity of items belonging to different families at his home, much to the astonishment of the village women, the primary victims of these repeated thefts.
Appearing in court, Kabou attempted to recant his statement, claiming the utensils had been given to him by someone named Ibrahima. However, the investigation confirmed he acted alone and operated around 4:00 a.m. He was ultimately sentenced to six months in prison, according to the newspaper published by Groupe Futurs Médias.
