Niacourab : un cambrioleur arrêté avec 15 téléphones volés

The Jaxaay, Parcelles Assainies, and Niacourab District Police Station has put an end to the activities of an alleged repeat burglar. Pape Abdou Faye, 18 years old and residing in Niacourab, was arrested on September 15, 2025, for a series of nighttime robberies by climbing and breaking and entering.

The case dates back to September 6, when a trader named A. Thioune, living in Niacourab, reported that his home had been burglarized.

His surveillance cameras had filmed the thief who had broken into his home and stolen three cell phones. Chasing the perpetrator, Mr. Thioune managed to catch him before he could escape, but he was able to recover eleven cell phones, including his own three. These devices, handed in to the police, were later returned to their owners, all of whom had been victims of thefts in the neighborhood that same night.

The burglar, however, continued his activities. On the night of September 14-15, he broke into another house in Niacourab by climbing over the patio gates. He managed to steal four phones and a suitcase containing administrative documents. Awakened by the noise, the owner of the property apprehended him before handing him over to the neighborhood representative, who took him to the police, according to Seneweb sources.

Formally identified by Mr. Thioune and recognized on CCTV footage, the accused confessed to some of the facts, while denying being the perpetrator of all the burglaries that occurred. Sixteen victims in total came to the police station to file a complaint, confirming the series of nighttime robberies in Niacourab.

During his hearing, the suspect stated that he sold his loot to a street vendor at the Keur Massar black market, nicknamed "Market Ba." The search brigade is continuing its investigations to catch this fence.

As for the 15 mobile phones found on him, they were returned to their owners.
