Notto-Gouye-Diama : Les commerçants entrent dans une colère noire
The traders of Notto Gouye-Diama are up in arms. They are protesting against the allocation of space in the new warehouse and the increase in municipal taxes.
These traders, previously operating out of tents or makeshift stalls on the site of the new infrastructure, feel they were not given sufficient consideration during the allocation process for the new sales spaces. They emphasized that the Notto Gouye Diama central market remains an international hub, supplying horticultural products to several regions of the country as well as some countries in the sub-region.
They are demanding consultation in order to reach a consensus on the allocation of sales spaces. However, some sources close to market management indicate that there are dissenting traders who already have a functional space, such as a counter or a canteen, inside the central market.
This is what the municipality supposedly understood. They counter that a fair distribution was made, taking into account vendors without a canteen.
The other point of contention is the municipal tax, which has increased from 3,000 CFA francs to 6,000 CFA francs. The mayor of Notto-Gouye-Diama explained that this increase is within a legal and regulatory framework. He emphasized that this decision resulted from a deliberation by the municipal council, which took place in the presence of the state representative.
