A night that was supposed to be peaceful nearly turned into a tragedy in the Parcelles Assainies neighborhood. The manager of the "Képar-Gui" guesthouse, located in Unit 6, kidnapped and brutally beat a young man he mistook for a thief. The assailant was apprehended by officers from the Golf-Sud district police station, under the command of Commissioner Mame Arona Ba.

It all began around 12:30 a.m., when IA Guèye, a 25-year-old tailor living in Cambérène 2, accompanied his friend AB Mbaye to the Képar-Gui hostel. Mbaye was there to meet his girlfriend. After facilitating the meeting between the two lovebirds, IA Guèye returned to his tailoring workshop located in Unit 11 of the Parcelles Assainies district, where he worked until 3:00 a.m.

He then decides to return to the inn to wait for his friend and goes up onto the terrace of the establishment.

It was at this moment that the manager, Mr. Thiam, a resident of Cambérène, mistook him for a thief and violently attacked him. The young tailor was roughed up, beaten, and held captive. Distraught, he nevertheless managed to call the police emergency number to alert the authorities, according to Seneweb sources.

A forceful intervention to free the victim

The police's SIC (Information and Communication System) received the distress call around 4:30 a.m. and immediately informed the Golf-Sud police station. Officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, the manager, having been informed that his victim had contacted the police, initially released her. But the scene was shocking: IA Guèye appeared with a bloodied forehead and her body covered in blood.

Far from cooperating, the manager threatened the police officers. He maintained that they had no right to enter his establishment at that hour of the night and categorically refused to grant them access. Holed up in a room, Mr. Thiam forced the officers to break down the door to extract the injured man. IA Guèye was immediately taken to a hospital for emergency treatment.

The manager was brought before the prosecutor's office.

Mr. Thiam was taken to the Golf-Sud district police station at 5:45 a.m. Briefly questioned about his actions, he chose to remain silent. He was placed in police custody on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery, and endangering the lives of others.

At the end of the investigation, the manager of the Képar-Gui hostel was brought before Prosecutor Saliou Dicko, head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office.
